Zakk Wylde Not Getting the Boot from the Ozzy Osbourne Camp

OZZY OSBOURNE’s official web site has been updated with the following announcement – an announcement which essentially denies that Zakk Wylde will be leaving the band permanently to be replaced by Gus G. Instead, the Greek guitarist will be taking to the stage for a one off performance at Blizzcon `09, and that’s it. No mas.

The full details are below:

Ozzy will be performing at the Anaheim Convention Center [in Anaheim, California] as part of the closing ceremonies at BlizzCon ‘09. However, due to  Zakk Wylde’s current touring commitments with BLACK LABEL SOCIETY and Mike Bordin’s ongoing reunion tour with FAITH NO MORE, Ozzy will be playing with guitarist Gus G. and drummer Tommy Clufetos for this special performance. They will be joining current Osbourne band members Rob ‘Blasko’ Nicholson and Adam Wakeman.”

Nice! Zakk is a guitar god. I just cant stand BLS and his annoying voice.

Still kinda sounds like Zakk is getting the boot though, I do like BLS just not as much as I like Ozz! Nowhere have I read that Zakk and Mike will be returning to the fold after this one off BlizzConn performance and in fact states that these other two musicians will be joining the band…so read into it what you like. I guess we’ll see.

Thuis guys should get a shot at the Ozzy Guitar job –

Lead Guitarist Gary Schutt who has done 5 world tours as bass player/ lead guitarist/ acoustic guitarist for Jeff Scott Soto (Yngwie Malmsteen, Journey) has joined forces with Jamie Gilroy (SATO) to perform as Ozzy Osbourne Tribute “BARK AT THE MOON”. Gary will now handle all Lead Guitar duties.

The band already has several large gigs set up and major agency backing from Maximum Bands – http://www.maximumbands.com

Their next shows will be on the big stage at the massive “SUCK BANG BLOW” concert hall at the Fall Bike Rally in Myrtle Beach SC Oct 1st – 3rd.

Gary Schutt is also a renowned lead guitarist and In June of 1992, Gary was featured in the “Spotlight” column of Guitar Player Magazine, and then had countless appearances and shows with national acts. In 2008, Gary released his 7th solo CD, a guitar instrumental album called “Loss 4 Words”. Guests include Neal Schon (Journey), Oz Fox (Stryper), Jon Finn (Jon Finn Group), Howie Simon (Jeff Scott Soto, Alcatrazz), Bryan Beller (Dweezil Zappa, Steve Vai, Dethlok) and Jeff Thal (Bumblefoot).
