Anthrax Cancel Opening Slot on Slipknot Tour, Vocalist Quits
Major drama appears to be afoot after ANTHRAX manager Izvor Zivkovic released the following statement:
“As announced last week, thrash legends Anthrax regretfully cancelled the first three dates on the second leg of their European tour due to new vocalist Dan Nelson’s unexpected illness. An additional seven European dates are also cancelled, those scheduled from July 22nd to July 30th.
Anthrax is thrilled to announce that they will play the August 1st Sonisphere festival in Knebworth, England, with their good friend John Bush joining them for a very special one-off performance.
The members of Anthrax have confirmed the departure of vocalist Dan Nelson. In light of this development, Anthrax’s slot on the US SLIPKNOT dates, set for August and September, has also been cancelled.
Anthrax is already actively considering lead singer candidates, and looks forward to hitting the road before the end of the year.”

He quit? I don’t think that’s been the official reason. How does SMN know that he was kicked out by Anthrax for whatever reason. The statement is too vague. If he left for a sickness it must be serious cause if it was something minor like the flu why not just cancel any dates and resume when he’s better.
Also SMN fails to mention that John Bush will be joining the band for the Aug 1st festival date. Not sure what will come of that.

I think Dan was told he was quitting. He was good, I saw him live once, but he wasn’t Anthrax. If John can come back fulltime they will make another big run. Real shame about that new album though.

Good, the new singer fucking sucked anyway, hopefully they rerecord their new stuff with another vocalist. Slipknot and Anthrax are two bands that should never be on a tour together anyway
When this was first posted it left out the part about John Bush. They since edited it. So at the time the above posters wrote that they were right. In case case SMN is the last to report any of this stuff.
