Job For A Cowboy Bring it Home for “Death Metal” on the Billboard Charts

Glendale, AZ heavy music powerhouse JOB FOR A COWBOY lands at #42 on the Billboard Top 200 Chart this week with its sophomore album, Ruination.   The record dropped on July 7 in North American via Metal Blade Records and shifted nearly 11,000 units in just its first week of release.

Additionally, Ruination debuted at #4 on Billboard’s Top Independent Albums Chart and at #7 on Billboard’s Hard Music Albums Chart.  The album also debuted at #50 on Canada’s Nielsen SoundScan Charts, #5 on its Independent Albums Chart and at #8 on the Canadian Hard Music Albums Chart.  The follow up to JOB FOR A COWBOY’s 2007 debut, Genesis (the highest charting metal debut to crack Billboard’s Top 200 since Slipknot’s 1999 self-titled album), Ruination has met to scads of critical acclaim in the weeks leading up to its release.  The album’s first week charting position represents one of the highest Billboard debuts ever for a band representing the “death metal” subgenre.

This record has death metal riffage, death metal drumming, and death metal vocals. Sounds like a death metal record to me!

Of course, all the “purists” will dismiss it as false metal because people are actually buying it and it actually has decent production. God forbid, right?

Oh, and don’t bother telling me how I don’t know “real” death metal, either. I do know. Quite well, in fact.
