Nice Design, although a little too Dark…
I keep getting thrown off with the news on the left and everything else over on the right
Now the site only looks seven years out of date instead of ten. Nice.
I prefer the old look, simple, no fuss
its dark! like metal!
I dont know about this yellow green, looks like pee. Or redbull. or redbull pee.
actually i like the new layout overall. just dont let the site quality turn to sh*t like antimusic.com CONTENT CONTENT CONTENT!!

I like the old site better.. It was familiar. And simple. I like my news up front and center where I can take a good look at it

Everyone’s going to think it sucks because that’s just what people do when a website gets redesigned. I like the top bar the best. I will say I’d like more news stories per page like the last one though.
^^ will fix…posts per page will be increased again.
Looks way better than the old site, but, there are a few areas you should seriously consider making some minor changes;
- The beige font on the grey background is a little hard to read, especially the darker shades. White is the best color to use on a dark-colored background because it pops, sometimes that requires having to darken up the background, but it’ll make a huge difference. It’s most noticeable with the fonts used in the dates. You never want to make any part of the text difficult to read.
- There’s no contrast between the main content and the sidebar. Each row and column use the exact same colors. When building a text-heavy site, you want the main article to stand out, this can easily be corrected by slightly altering the background color of the articles, making it either lighter or darker, like how the Metal Injection box pops from the sidebar.
- The green is an odd color choice considering the palette. A brighter/darker green would pop a lot better on the background, that particular color is a little dull.
The grunge/grey effect can be done well, the Mouth For War site is a perfect example ( http://mouthforwar.net/ ) Not trying to be a dick, just trying to help you guys make the site a bit easier on the eyes than it is right now. Still looks a million times better than the old site, but with a few little tweaks, I think the new SMN can look amazing.
One last thing; why is the search bar hidden in the header? Most people won’t even notice it, if you want people to actually search through the articles on your site (and you do!) then you need to make it stand out from the background. Using a nearly black background with super dark text isn’t the way to make people notice.
Do not like the new layout of this at all, check out this site for news its the easiest to navigate http://www.rocksnail.co.uk. This new layout takes far to much clicking around before I can actually get to something of interest!
