Blackened Fest Implodes…Every Band Drops Off the Tour
Blackened Fest 2009 is officially in arrears. All bands, bar MAYHEM, have dropped off the bill. As reported by an embedded Metal Injection reporter MARDUK, CEPHALIC CARNAGE, CATTLE DECAPITATION, and WITHERED are all no longer featuring on the tour – MAYHEM will instead complete the rest of the dates alone.
An excerpt from the fine piece of investigative journalism reads as follows:
“When a band drops a tour, it instantly voids the contract made between the booker and the promoter for each venue. In other words, what ever money that each band was originally supposed to get at the end of each show was changed when Marduk didn’t show up. Because Mayhem was the headliner, they believed that they deserved their full guaranteed money still. They didn’t realize that Cartel had to renegotiate contracts with the promoter every night. With an extra bus to pay for and Mayhem still requesting the majority of the earned cash to match their original guarantee, the tour manager was left with no money to work with. The drivers didn’t get paid and they weren’t driving until they did. The support bands weren’t making much money some nights, but were willing to hold out a couple days for cash. Unlike Mayhem, who wanted their full cash up front, every night.”

saw this tour without mayhem (so the 3 support bands -- cattle, cephalic and withered) and it was a great show. mehham can suck it. who cares if they don’t tour the us again. like the person above me said, no big loss.
this article just proves the demise of metal injection’s integrity considering they hired this person who had no idea what she was talking about.
meyham sucked anyways, half the crowd left a couple of songs into their set when I saw them and I can’t say I blame them. I only stayed the whole set because I was hoping something interesting was going to happen or i’d be taken in by the music. never happened and I like a lot of black metal. fuck mayhem.

Mayhem really didnt do anything wrong, they shouldn’t have to pay for everything! The promoter should have had everything worked out incase of one band bailing ahead of time. Marduk and Mayhem are both notorious for pulling out of U.S. tours!
Half the crowd left? Well considering they were playing with Cattle Decapitation and and Cephalic Carnage, who are under a totally different fan base and probably most fans never listened to them in the first place, doesn’t surprise me. I’m glad the scene kids leave after Cattle Decapitation get off, so less people to stink the damn place up.
Mayhem should not be held responsible too. It’s not their duty to worry about who gets paid what. The whole thing went downhill when Marduk couldn’t get in. If they were able to, this tour would have most likely stayed together. This lady doing this ‘journalism’ is an idiot.
And btw, Mayhem’s show here in Houston was amongst one of the best live shows I’ve ever seen. So theatrical and unique live, Attila almost seems like he’s acting in a play. Absolutely amazing. Cattle Decapitation fans are usually scene kid douche bags, and that night proved it, and Cephalic Carnage bored the fucking hell out of me. The horse mask was a little amusing though.

I just saw this tour on the 4th in Portland. Didn’t catch Withered, but Cattle Decapitation was good. Not the biggest Cephalic Carnage fan (pretty boring) but Mayhem was great. We all knew that Marduk wasn’t showing up (although that was the original reason I was going in the first place). Didn’t matter. Hellhammer is one of the best drummers I’ve ever seen. Great show!
For me it’s fucking better to cut the shit and see just Mayhem -- Most of the kids doesn’t get it anyway so IS BETTER FOR YOU SO IT IS FUCKING BETTER FOR US!!

mayhem’s show in tempe, az was amazing…..withered was okay, cattle was kind of lame, cephalic was very boring. cattle is good, but their fans are a bunch of teenager scene kids who got scared when mayhem came out. cephalic just stood up there and made retarded comments about getting stoned after EVERY song!!!

Show in San Francisco was Ok. Sound was fucking shit all night, couldn’t hear the guitars at all. Withered was kinda boring, but they struck me as being a bit young still and had potential. Cattle Decapitation played a fucking awesome show, but I hate grind so I couldn’t really get into it. Cephalic tore it up. Mayhem was also fairly boring since, once again, couldn’t hear the guitars. As we all know the bass is by far the most important instrument in Black Metal. :P Also there were these retards running around asking where necrobutcher was (on the stage).

So just because Cephalic was boring as fuck and I basically zoned out on the guard rail the whole, time, makes one like Limp Bizcut? Fucking please. I seen Doom Metal bands (Katatonia, Paradise Lost and such) who entertained me MASSIVE amounts more live. And yes, I do like death metal, Cephalic are just boring as fuck with generic ass songs.
Cephalic Carnage has just gotten most of their fans from that lame ass weed gimmick they always shout. Kids: “Oh hey, they love weed! They are awesome now!” Without those words, 3/5 of their current fan base still wouldn’t know there name.
I saw Mayhem at the Deathfest :). Anyway, if it were just a tour where Marduk and Mayhem were the only 2 bands on the bill I would have been happy to pay $20 or $30 to be there….Waiting patiently for August to come to see Marduk :).
