Anvil! Beats Hannah Montana at the Box Offices

The US debut of Sacha Gervasi’s “Anvil! The Story of Anvil,” was the top Easter weekend newcomer at the specialty box office with a better per screen theater average ($11,600) than Hannah Montana or any film that opened this past weekend. The film grossed $34,800 from 3 screens this weekend. The Abramorama release is being heavily supported by VH1 on all platforms and highlighting that is the band’s US tour, “VH1 Classic Presents: The Anvil Experience” in which the film is played at each tour stop followed by a short performance by the band.

I think Hannah Montana is nothing more than a talentless lip syncing spoiled brat, but if the Anvil movie was shown in the same amount of theaters it would be a huge disaster. So I really wouldn’t say it did better.
