Earache Preps NWOTHM Release “Heavy Metal Killers”
Earache Records will be releasing a compilation featuring the very best bands from the emerging “New Wave of Traditional Heavy Metal” scene.
Heavy Metal Killers features 13 new tracks from, “the best fresh, young bands who share one common goal – to bring back the glory days of heavy metal and with it, good old-fashioned headbanging riffs and that rarest of talents in this age of growlers – powerful, true heavy metal vocals.”
Heavy Metal Killers features new talents as ENFORCER, PORTRAIT, CROWNING GLORY and WHITE WIZZARD, and also marks the label debuts of new Earache signings CAULDRON and POWERVICE.

You’re both mental midgets. Have you even listened to any of the bands on this? It’s called “metal”. Idiots.
Apparently it isn’t called “metal” but “New Wave of Traditional Heavy Metal.” Don’t you know? It’s 2009, not the late 80’s. Everything (even every fucking band) has it’s own hybrid or genre now – even the foundation which is called the “New Wave of British Heavy Metal.”
I agree, poor souls trying to revive what has already happened. Tsk, Tsk.
Right. And what HASN’T been done, exactly? Nothing. Not being completely original doesn’t change the fact that there are some great bands on this comp. You can go back to your shitty black metal bands now.

I’m sure if there is a troll, we can get the “White Wizzard” to cast a spell on it.
There is an infinite realm of possibility as far as things that haven’t been done. You can even rehash something old and make it new. But I find it hard to believe that metal tracks about cars, swords, or “the law” still matter to anyone.
Obviously some people do, otherwise Earache wouldn’t be doing this. I listened to a few of these songs, and they’re great. Too many people take their music way too seriously; this stuff is just fun.
If an era of music does not evolve with the rest of the genre it should be left to die. Hair bands are a prime example of that. The reason I enjoy Metal so much is because most bands have a progressive career.
They all want to evolve into something new and/or better. It’s the one genre where musicians are willing to take it off the edge and push the boundaries of the genre.
And as a dedicated follower of the Power Metal, Folk Metal and Viking Metal sub-genres I say “yes!” to caring about swords involved in music.

Metal tracks about cars and swords and dragons and wizzards rule. It is also all about bringing the GOOD TIMES and actual SONG WRITING back into the genre. How many more bands do we need that down tune, scream and cannot write songs to save their lives? There is nothing memorable or inspiring about that. A great chorus and a great melody mixed with metal is a very kller thing.
Bands like……….
Maiden/Priest/Scorpions/Sabbath….there is a reason they are so loved worldwide and more popular now than ever-memorable songwriting and hooks kids. And it just makes you feel good. It stands the test of time.
There are so many sub genres and even defining what metal means to one guy or the next gets crazy. The world is bogged down with a bunch of anger and grey material. Metal tracks that make you want to sit in a corner and slice your wrists or make you just pissed off have their place for some people, but so does good melodic metal with big choruses and hooks. There is shitty examples of all forms of metal and good ones. It is all opinions. Nobody is wrong or right, but to dismiss one or the other misses the point. I love metal, but one thing i have never understood is how everyone who claims to be HEAVIER or into something more hardcore or dark, will slag anything that tries to be about something else. I guess alot of people are just really pissed off. If your about good times, it is blown off by the hard underground guys. Some of these people really need a hug.
White Wizzard is all about good times, song writing and melodic hooks. We do not claim to be anything, but we will continue to push that philosophy and i hope more bands like alot of the great ones on this comp will too and not give in like so many bands that they have to be heavier or harder or darker to be more accepted.
The next wave of great bands is gonna spit in the face of that philosophy and just believe in themselves. That is what it is all about.
