Metallica Make Chart History
It is official…Death Magnetic, the ninth studio album from the multi-platinum METALLICA, is the best-selling album in the country this week, debuting atop the Billboard Top 200 Albums Chart at #1, making METALLICA the only band in chart history to have five albums debut at the top spot.
METALLICA breaks their tie with the Beatles, U2 and the Dave Matthews Band, all of who have four #1 album debuts. Death Magnetic is METALLICA’s fifth consecutive studio album to debut at #1, following 1991’s Metallica (known as The Black Album), 1996’s Load, 1997’s ReLoad, and 2003’s St. Anger.
Death Magnetic also scored big around the world with No. 1 debuts in such diverse countries as Argentina, Belgium, Canada, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Holland, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Sweden, and Turkey.

wow st anger was a number 1. god that was such a hunk of poop.
if they kept track of all the broken discs and returns it would have been far from #1
I am ashamed to say i bought Load when it came out, and contributed to them being # 1 with that album. They do not deserve this, i cannot believe St Anger was # 1, people need to stop buying there albums
Oh well…. guess I’d rather have metallica at the top than fuckin U2 or dave matthews band. How many people spent hours trying to convince themselves that metallica returned to their roots with this album?
this album kicks ass-yeah St. Anger shouldn’t have sold half as many copies as it did but it just makes up for justice and puppets
