Machine Head Guitarist Collapses Onstage
MACHINE HEAD guitarist Phil Demmel collapsed onstage tonight on the Rockstar Mayhem Energy Festival during the band’s second-to-last song during their performance in Bristow, VA.
According to MachineHead1.com, Demmel was, “severely dehydrated and had mentioned several times to his tech that he felt lightheaded during the show.”
Drummer Dave McClain followed up, “That was a scary moment for all of us. Seeing your friend collapse like that is something that nobody wants to experience. He’s doing much better now and taking it easy on the bus.”
MACHINE HEAD are still set to perform with Demmel at the last Mayhem stop in Darien Lake, NY.
The following is a first hand report sent in to SMNnews:
“Four songs into their set at the Rock Star Energy Drink Mayhem Festival set. I was right up front, but did not see anything directly hit or strike Phil. I turned around to catch a crowd surfer, than turned back to see Phil toes up on stage, with roadies scrambling to grab his guitar and check to see if he was ok. He was completely unconscious for sometime, than was revived, Rob Flynn and company informed us that he was ok, but could not continue the show. It was WILD to see, I couldn’t believe it.”
