OTEP are still around, who knew? Their politically fueled video for the song ‘Crooked Spoons’ has reached teh intarnet. It features rising young actress Brittany Snow from the Thomas Mignone film On the Doll.

Angsty frontman Otep Shamaya spoke to MTV about the song’s meaning to her, and yes, she was reading Nietzsche:

“The video is an exposition of the American way in all of its beautiful contradictions: sex, violence, solidarity, betrayal, lust, power, religion. I was reading Nietzsche when I was writing the early lyrics for this song, and was captured by his ideas on the world being “the will to power” and how humanity has a natural appetite for destruction. I find this song to be seductive, erotic, dangerous, and provocative. It’s one of my favorites.”
