Shinedown – Jasin Todd Fires Back in Deleted Blog Posting
SHINEDOWN frontman Jasin Todd got his furry pink panties in a bit of a bind earlier this week. If you can sift through the grammar headache and misspellings, you’re in for a treat of a read when it comes to the topic of talking dirty about former bandmates. Keep in mind, this blog update was deleted at a later point in time:
“lies, all lies. there is no shinedown without me. loyalty doesn’t exist, rememeber a guy named Brad Stewart? They run the show, no, not the band. The truth is i had my ass beat by 6 cops in Jax Beach, Fl. Test proved no alchole or drugs were in system. All charges were dropped. I’ve been sober for 3 months now. The deal was sixty days in rehab- completed, then all would be back on.Ask about what half the songs are about? This was my life and i always left it on t he stage. Nothing illegal was done, wrong place at the wrong time. Think about it. Do you care if they take it all from us….my blood will be on their hands. ——— ask Mr. Nick how he got the job for Perry’s band. Ask Zack who supported him, the only guy that supported him–ever? Me. And all you know how i feel about Brent. Barry will leave next. MY BEAR. I love you, but looks like you laid down too. Maybe i’m wrong. Now their gonna give 7 years of our work/my work, to some new people. He should just call it a solo “brent smith” album, cause it’s no Shinedown album. Cause their is no more Shinedown, no more Jasin Todd, BRad Stewart.. I love u all, please remember that.I bet money it was just another little plan, he didn’t write it, bet i know who did…sorry everyone, this is really hard, through this whole thing, i gave it my everything,as you {OUR FANS] know. This is the stake that killed the beast. Never EVER trust anyone with your life. it’ll get ya devorsed/you might lose someone you actually care about-pass away-not even a “IM SORRY”.From anyone but my parents. Atlantic, i guess didn;t care. you have bandmates that could care less, even after spending time and living through the unthinkable. I was always doing for others first. Enough, post your bullshit comments, this and that and such, about im whatever,. no longer matters, Brent, my “brother” made this choice. gave all i had. MY Blood IS on Their Hands. THink, do real bands like the chilli peppers treat their family like this? Not a chance. They have souls and take care of their friends WHEN THEY’RE GOING THROUGH HELL’ Ask how many shows people in our label and mang, have seen in 7 fucking years? U couldn’t count ‘em on yer hands. So how would they know anything about me on stage ?no not my lovely locals…Pigs eat the rotten!!! Now u guys can wait for them to spew more baulderdash. I care deerly for you all, you made playing live everything, hope you gottcha a lil bit., hope all yer dreams come true, but, never trust anyone. play because it calls to you. Goodbye cruel world, Melody and Brent have let this world kill me. See ya around old friends. They’ll try to delete this, hope you get a chance to read.”
“Jasin O’Neil TODD PHLAX yes this is me they gave me everything and slit it out from me. Damn them, if Buffalo Smith wanted in me in OUR band, all he has 2 do is say it. All i got were texts. cant even pick up the tele, says sumthin about a persons heart.i just found all this out, so sorry for all of you that stood by the real Shinedown. Peace. Jasin O’neil Todd. Sweet dreams. See ya Bonnie, Clyde’s a Comin. Happy b-day my LEXXXI, see yoou soon, we’ll get all these bastards in heaven. How that for my “So called actions” thought this was a real rock band, not sume band that lays down and gets rolled. fuck it all.”

lol
wtf?
I had to make out half of that rant
Somebody was obviously skipping english class to work on his vocals
So what happened?
God that was incoherent. Sounds like he’s back on the dope and booze. That’s pretty much all that came across, despite his ravings to the contrary.
oy vey
Ijust met him in treatment in Tallahasse Florida. He is lying to you, lying to himself , and he lied to all of us at the hospital..
Jasin….I totally support you. I do not feel the same about Shinedown after reading your blog. I saw you at Voodoo fest in New Orleans. You were great. The and wont be the same without you.
Love,
Debbie

Yo cleanandsober I got a question. when you say he’s lying what do you mean? All the stories I find are contradictory… I guess what I’m asking is, are he and Brent really at each others throats or are the two okay with each other?
The blog in question was written in the wee hours of the morning the day after Brent posted a blog on Shinedown’s Myspace telling the world Jasin was out of Shinedown. Brent DID NOT call Jas first and explain; he let him read the blog just like the rest of us. Jas was heartbroken when he read what Brent said, and that’s why Jas wrote the blog. I know this, I was there. The blog may have been deleted off of Shinedown’s Myspace, but it has NOT been deleted from Jasin’s Myspace page. As for the English; that’s Jasin. Anybody that knows him can recognize him by the way he writes. And I think he would say, ‘I am not perfect and I don’t claim to be and if that’s what you wanted then I am so sorry.’ That line is from a little record called Leave A Whisper; maybe y’all have heard of it? Because his English is not perfect does not invalidate him as a person or a guitar player.
I saw him July 13, 2008, and as of that date, Jasin Todd is alive and well. He’s sober and trying to get his life back on track after being fucked in the ass by Atlantic Records. (BTW, Brent is just a puppet with no balls).
I don’t know who Cleanandsober is and he/she may have met Jas in rehab, but he/she aint’ seen him lately. I have, and I tell you he looks great and he has lots of options to look forward to. However, he is still reeling from what they have done to him: suspended from Shinedown; his guitar tracks removed from Sound of Madness; and given no credit for the guitar parts he wrote for same record.
Think on this; if someone had taken what you spent 8 months creating, what you had put your soul into, and then gave it to someone else to take credit for and show to the world (never mind making oodles of money from it), I believe y’all would be a tad bit upset as well.
)O(-Donna White
Amen Donna.
I really liked Jasin in SD but you could tell the chemistry was gone, he may say he had a lot of passion, but the last 4 times I’ve seen them, Keith Richards looked more alive. Nick Perri Has more energy and brings better skills as a lead guitar player to SD, I met Nick at Rock on the Range in Columbus in May and he seems grateful to be where he is and he actually plays the old SD stuff better than Jasin, that says a lot cause I’ve been a fan since the local J’ville days.
I was upset to find out that Jasin was out, especially since I had tickets to see them in a couple of weeks. But I was still excited about hearing the new album. The show turned out great, Nick is a credible guitarist, and zach is awesome. I talked to Brent after the show, and he didn’t rule out Jasin retuning someday to Shinedown. Keep your fingers crossed. Anyway, to the new album. I thought it sounded great, but thought something was missing. I read the liner notes,Tim pierce, Dave Bassett, Rob Cavallo,Chris Chaney, who are these people? Was there yet another new lineup? Jasin Todd, Nick perri, Zach Meyers? Did anyone from Shinedown actually play on this record? This is simply a Brent Smith solo album. It is good, but could have been GREAT with jasin.
Imagine “What a Shame” with Jasin hammering those chords!!
I was a shinedown fan because what I saw and heard from this band was honesty. They played with truth, emotion, and a Jasin especially, played with a heavy heart. With just a guitar and a set of pipes Jasin & Brent had somthing special. With this new “solo” album, I can’t feel the soul of the album & for that I am dissapointed. There is more to a band than just the frontman.
jASIN FUCK SHINEDOWN , FUCK THEM ALL, YOU HAVE TO SAVE YOURSELF. yOU CAN CREATE MAGIC WITHOUT THEM BUT YOU CANT CREATE MAGIC IF YOU DONT LOVE YOURSELF. iVE MET YOU IN SPRINGFIELD AND YOUR BEYONG THIS. WITH LOVE ANOTHER STRUGGLING ADDICT
who is shinedown?
and why do i have the sudden urge to smoke a blunt?
i say rock out wit yo cock out
yeeeehaw
wow…. Poor Jasin. Dude. He’s what made me like music, he’s the one that made me want to play the guitar. He put his heart and soul into music, into his passions, and I’ve learned from that. He was more than an amazing guitarist, we was my role modle, and still is.
Brent is an amazing singer… and shinedown is still a very talented band. Love their new album… still has Jasin apart of it, even tho it doesn’t say that on the album cover. He wrote those rifts. So in my mind it is still an escape for me.
I have no idea how i will take the next album….. only the hands of the clock will tell.
Best of Luck to you, Jasin Todd. I hope happiness falls in your lap. I will always be with you, 100%. A true fan forever.
Jasin is completely right, Shinedown is dead without him. Not in the sense that they wont sell records but the whole “family” feeling that made them what they are is gone. Take a listen to ANY song or any performance where Jasin is on the guitar, now compare that to Nick Perri and Zakk Myers play those same songs…..no feeling at all!!!! With all do respect to the band, BOO to Shinedown for doing this. It’s like losing a piece in the middle of a puzzle, sure you see the picture but there is an empty space that you cant help but focus your attention on. Shinedown, I love your music but Jasin Todd is that piece. You will never be the same until he returns if at all…..
Listen to your fans. We’re what made you, you have said it yourself.
I agree with everyone who is backing Jasin Todd. He is an awesomguitarist and I loved listening to him play the guitar. There was something so calming about the way he would play. There is no other and will be no other guitar player in my eyes as great as Jasin. I still love shinedown but the new guys need to go because they don’t hold a flame to jasin. It was messed up for someone who you traveled with and spent all that time with to kick you when you’re already down and to leave you hanging like that so Jasin has every right to be pissed. I could only imagine what it was like to be stabbed in the back like that from someone who was like a “brother” to me or claimed to be. My heart goes out to you jasin. I wish the best for you and I hope I get to hear you again soon. You’re an amazing person and I’m with always with you!! Only your true fans can say that and mean it and I do. I wish you peace. Be safe and God bless!!!!! I love you!!!!!
One last thing. If Atlantic records were waiting on Jasin to clean up his life shouldn’t they have done the same for Brent because correct me if I’m wrong but wasn’t he an addict too? Just because he was the voice of the band doesn’t mean that he should get better treatment than Jasin the GUITARIST!!!! That’s bull. Have faith and patience. I know what it’s like being a former addict and dealing with an addict. It takes time and patience but with enough of it anyone can pull through. Jasin, you and Brent made Shinedown and without you Shinedown will never be the same. Don’t get me wrong I still enjoy listening to Shinedown but without you in it it’s just not the same. What a Shame. I do hope we, your fans, do get to see you again soon. We miss you and love you!! Peace be with you always!!!!
hey jennifer. go ahead and smoke that blunt, and then go jump off a building. a really tall building
hey ana p
brent recognized he had a problem and unsafely detoxed on his own…
Its such a shame, Jasin and Brad were what what made shinedown. Its not hard to see the Brent is up his own ass with Fame. I hope to see Jasin back in the Music Scene soon. Brad has a great blog about his experience too, i highly recommend checking it out. I still like shinedown and have had a great time listening to their music and have many memories that includes it as well. I think after the sound of madness, i will not listen to them anymore, i mean Jasin made the real music.
fy all
Brent,Jasin,Brad,Barry
I can only say this
I meet you guys after you played at the HOUSE OF BLUES in Los Angeles

Someone that has a SOLE
REALY I THANK YOU FOR MAKING THAT NIGHT SOMETHING REAL
I remember you thought my girl’s arms were sleeved but it was a tattoo art long-sleeved top ….
As for SHINEDOWN the sole of band gone with you and doesn’t sound like the music that saved me…
CLEANANDSOBER
GIVE ME A HOLLER AT SNOWJULIE35@HOTMAIL.COM WANT TO SEE WHAT YOUR STORY FROM REHAB IS.
The few times I have seen Shinedown live…Jasin was the driving force. The passion. He is the one who made me feel in touch with the band. The rest were just mulling along. And as far as his post being incoherent or rambling…take a look at yourselves and ask. “If I had been betrayed…and were going to write things down. How would it come out?” Because when people speak out of passion and pain….its not always coherent and logical.
There is no right or wrong when it comes to feelings. They just are what they are.
Best of luck to you Jasin in all your endeavors. You are truly gifted. Look at this as a sign to do something better. To not be held back anymore.
Blessings

I’ve seen and met Shinedown 4 times. Jasin was with the band every one of those shows but 1 which was the day he had his baby for the show at the House of Blues in Myrtle Beach, SC. I’ve been in the pit in front taking pics for every one of those shows. I’ve seen Jasin bleed for this band. I saw him in Charleston, Sc the night his best friend died. He poured his heart out for 2 hours and left every piece of his soul out on that stage that night. Backstage later he was a mess…a complete mess…but who can blame the guy after losing one of his best friends. This guy is amazing and I’ll listen to any music he chooses to make.
As for Shinedown, I have lost a lot of respect for them for dumping Jasin when he needed them most. The new album is incredible and you can def feel Jasin’s touch on it. I don’t know how future albums will be able to compare to the older material Jasin had a hand in.
Good luck Jasin, in everything you do.
Coop
Certainly, in the topsy-turvy world of heavy rock, having a good solid piece of wood in your hand is often useful. Ian Faith (Spinaltap)
whats in the past is in the past. what is in your future. when it comes to the cops well ….. is there anything we can say.
i agree. something about brent just gives me a bad vibe. yes hes got serious talent on vocals, but hes got a selfish deviant side too. guitarists in rock bands usually do everything or nothing. considering the talent in jasin, id assume its not the latter.
i shall look for jasins new work and look forward to shinedowns eventual new cd. not to purchase of course, im not even buying sounds of madness out of respect. i intend to watch brent smith spiral out of control into a poopchute of garbage with their next album. shinedowns days are numbered. if they truly supported him they wouldve brought nick in still, just wouldnt have cut him out, they woulda brought a temp guitarist in. or maybe use their tech for a bit, but no. lets just kick his butt outta the group. shinedown is this generations guns n roses and brent is nothing less, if not worse, than axl rose himself. in fact axl at least is an arsehole to your face, difficult and trying. brent is underhanded, sneaky and backstabbing.
lets let common sense decide here folks. who is the actual victim? jasin or brent? those with their minds made up shall take my words and ignore them. those with open minds and common sense think about the point i made in the 5th last sentence of the previous paragraph.
p.s. to jennifer: Were your parents related, you know, before marriage?
my condolences to jasin todd and
You guys all complain about how Shinedown is not the same since Jasin left and how something is missing in Shinedown, but you ALL still listened to the new album. Yeah, Jasin helped write some of the music, but when you listen to ‘Second Chance’ and ‘What a Shame’ and say it’s a good song, it’s not Jasin actually playing. it’s a whole new band, and you guys still like the new album with the new band. So quit whining. Shinedown is still amazing and sorry to say it, but Shinedown wouldn’t be near as famous as they are without Brent Smiths vocal talent. He’s the person that makes you sit in awe after a cover of ‘Simple Man’
Zach is the only new guy on Sound of Madness; he’s on bass. The CD submitted to Atlantic with Jasin on guitar was dumped and all Jasin’s tracks were removed and replaced with the help of a studio guitarist. Neither Eric nor Nick are on the record, not one note. So, the band you see now, is not the band on the record.
A couple weeks ago Brad and Jasin met up for the first time in over a year. It was a wonderful homecoming. Look for great things from these two; the other half of Shinedown.
I know one of the guitarists who auditioned for SD after Jasin left but he obviously didn’t get the job. I found out later that it was rigged because they wanted Nick from the start. I met the band members informally and they all seemed to be more interested in partying than playing music, except for Zach, who seems like a great guy. I wish them the best but they missed a good opportunity to hire a great guitarist.
Jasin Todd was the guitarist?
He never was the lead singer. I kind of don’t believe any of this..
Jasin Todd kicks ass.
Atlantic Records will be sorry.
alli gotta say is WOW…
i still think shinedowns amazin and brent smith might be how you say he is, but he’s still got a rockin’ voice. maybe you shouldnt have fucked up and did all them drugs huh? someones obviously jealous AND envious. good luck with that!
haha ethan your exactly right!
There is no Shinedown w/o Jasin Todd. Brent Smith has such a beautiful voice but sold out, it’s obviously all about money to him and not the music!!! That’s not a REAL band!! You don’t abandon your bandmates when they need you most, having a band is like having another family!! Only the strong survive and Brent Smith will not survive w/o Jasin Todd!! You can already hear it in their new CD! IT SUCKED!! I use to be a HUGE Shinedown fan. But now I hope I see the day when Jasin Todd is ON TOP and Brent is eating his words!!
