THis is a bull shit list. I can’t believe 90% of the bands listed. who ever the writers are surely do not know metal.

  2. BodomH8Breeder says:

let’s try to be original and name bands that most fans have never heard of to prove we aren’t conformists.

  3. IronMaiden736 says:

Stop bitching. That’s a pretty solid list.

  4. MothiNrust says:

Suprised to see some of the bands listed, in a bad but mostly good way. Disapointed by the order though.

  5. dalenkwint says:

    oh please…

    10. A Life Once Lost – Iron Gag

    LOL!

  7. magiin says:

1-10 should pretty much be completely removed. watain #2? really? sworn in the dark was fuckin terrible especially in comparison to Cassus.

anyway, dillinger, jesu, pelican, a life once lost? yeah this list is just garbage. put some effort into it at least. never read this magazine but this list certainly isnt pushing me in a direction to want to do so

  8. Namaste says:

    MEh

  9. Tecky says:

Doesn’t matter if there are obscure names in there or not. The list sucks. There’s 4 or 5 cds in there that might be deserving of being on there.

  10. kill_for_weed says:

Why are most metal heads such whiney fucking bitches? Seriously, write your own lists and stop fucking complaining.

  11. SLjimbolian says:

The omission of Sigh’s “Hangman’s Hymn” makes this entire list invaild.

  12. youguysaremorons says:

As does, once again, the absence of Impaled’s new opus.

  13. crustcake gerf says:

There are a lot of great records on this list.

    @ GringoDeath:

Please submit your list of 36 (90% of 40) 2007 releases that are more metal than those listed here.

    @ BodomH8Breeder:

Few of these bands are all that obscure.

    @ kill_for_weed:

    Yup.

  14. PissChrist666 says:

Where the fuck is Dark Tranquillity’s “Fiction”?

  15. youguysaremorons says:

Oh. Don’t you know they suck??

More so than Alcest. SRSLY WHO THE FUCK IS THAT.

  16. GringoDeath says:

how about visceral bleeding, black dahlia murder, behemoth, sickening horror, dying fetus, as i lay dying, nile, divine heresy, light this city, vital remains, disavowed, kronos, beneath the massacre, nile, blood red throne. at least one of these should have made the list!!!!

  17. Maikeru says:

    Gringo:

Behemoth? Nile? Vital Remains? Are you just trying to list some of the most trite, repetitive and bullshit metal around? All three of those albums suck my cock dry. Bland, boring, uninspired, unoriginal and all around fucking bad.

Light This City? As I Lay Dying? Beneath The Massacre? Now you’re just being queer. Fuck all three of those bands. I’d lump Black Dahlia Murder in this category but their album actually wasn’t half bad (but in no way list worthy, not Top 40).

Kronos’ new album was MAJORLY disappointing. And Dying Fetus? People still like them? What the fuck?

You’re attempt at making a “list” was utter fucking fail. Decibel is FAR FAR FARRRR from being a perfect and conclusive representation of metal but you some of the shit you listed just proves you’re a run-of-the-mill metal fan that takes whatever shit they feed you on a plate and licks it clean. Open your mind and explore better music.

My two cents on the list…

Pig Destroyer is a great #1 pick. Not my personal #1, but I was half expecting them to go with Dillinger (a good album though). It’s got ups and downs, but missing a lot of quality releases from this year, such as….

Akercocke – Antichrist (possibly my #1, their best album yet and it’s fucking amazing)
Between the Buried and Me (hated this band until this year, Colors is mindblowing!)
Circus Maximus – Isolate (Best progressive metal album of the year, hands down)
Demiurg (most underrated death metal album of the year)
Devin Townsend – Ziltoid the Omniscient (a fucking blast, quite possibly the most fun metal record of the year)
The Foreshadowing – Days of Nothing (takes the fucking cake for gothic/death/doom and completely unknown… for now)
Impaled – The Last Gasp (a serious oversee on their part, incredible album)
The Ocean – Precambrian (furious sludge metal at it’s finest)
Sigh – Hangman’s Hym (again, another big oversee)
Vintersorg – Solens Rotter (Vinter’s triumphant return to singing in full swedish, beautiful album)
Wolves In The Throne Room – Two Hunters (possibly their biggest oversee, Wolves get best black metal album of the year in my opinion)

  18. Condor Fobbeo says:

ah the ocean didnt make the list because i came out after the article was written and wolves in the throne room last album wasnt bad, but its essential an emperor folk ripoff. oh and impaled- they gave it a good review, but its not on the list. just like gaza.

really what it comes down to for why they picked the album of year in that order is less so because of bias but because of experience.

most have lived through and through the metal scene for years, they dont want to hear another carcass ripoff. unlike some of you. oh and also, unlike some of you, they dont care about retarded band egos.
further more, its not a metal magazine. its a extreme music magazine, so if you define extreme music to only be in the relm of metal esque genres, you have no say in decibel’s top forty.
these dudes know what they are doing, maybe it is high time you listened to their reasons for their list.

  19. Condor Fobbeo says:

well at least bias based out of experience

  20. sonofog says:

personally, the only thing I can bitch about is the order, cause BTBAM’s colors is the most epic album of the year.
hella better than pig destroyer. in fact its better than every album in front of it. there is one key flaw to this list.

PISSED JEANS?!?!?!? what the FUCK!?! that is not metal at all!!!!! that is hardcore-punk-shit-fuck WHATEVER!!!! but it for sure is NOT metal. As I Lay Dying should swap places with these NOT METAL fuckers.
