The Black Dahlia Murder – Nocturnal
With relentless touring under their belts from Ozzfest to The Sounds Of The Underground, on their own, or fresh from trekking across the US as part of the Metal Blade 25th Anniversary Tour, THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER have constructed a modern day lesson in extreme music with their 3rd release, Nocturnal.
As a band TBDM has been eveloped in the revolving door theory for band members. One can only hope that they can maintain their current level as Ryan Williams and Shannon Lucas (bass and drums respectively) have driven the songs of Brian Eschbach (guitar, songwriter) to what could have been with their last album Miasma. On tracks like Everything Went Black and Deathmask Divine not only do we hear the sheer brutal attack and overall tightness of the band, but there is a heightened sense of melody that is diplayed in the guitar solos and some of the more, dare i say, ‘more groove oriented’ parts of the songs. When I say melody I’m not speaking of a ‘pop-sense’, but more movement on the guitar riffs to create a more interesting sound. What has happened is TBDM have truly found their niche blending elements of their heroes into their own blend of Motor City Death Metal that is sure to attract an older fan while still catering to the modern day followers of metal and somehow managing to attract ‘the scene’ type admirer.
THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER has proven themselves to be able to step it up to the next level on Nocturnal and will keep them as a forerunner in the world of extreme metal.

my fav was Between The Buried And Me – Colors
so i dont usually listen to this genre
but thats how good this cd is.
the NOLY flaw
to me atleast
is that the solos sounds very similar
but theyre are all good
so it makes no difference.
Can you fucking faggot scene kids use an adjective other than “amazing?” Seriously, are you all that fucking stupid?
I guess if you think these fucking faggot bands are good then you’re obviously a fucking tard stain.
If you’re so smart, can you understand this? No one cares.
Good review, great album.
You listen to shitty music like the black dahlia murder, fine. At least learn how to use the english language. I have never seen so many grammatical erros and misspellings by a bunch of neanderthals. Says a lot about the kind of idiots listening to this garbage.
