Maryland Deathfest – Close To Announcing Final Bands
The organizers of the annual/highly anticipated Maryland Deathfest have posted the following update:
“We’re just about ready to announce 3 of the final 4 bands. We’ve decided to leave 1 space open for a while as there is the possibility of something pretty special developing. Either way, at this point most people probably already know if they are coming or not, so that 1 final band probably won’t make a huge difference for you. Tickets will go on sale along with the 3 bands that will be announced, and that could come as early as this weekend.”
Next year’s festival will take place from May 23rd to 25th at the Sonar in Baltimore, MD and feature performances from GRAVE, REPULSION, MACABRE, MONSTROSITY, MARTYR, DERANGED, IMPALED, SQUASH BOWELS, FUCK…I’M DEAD, DEFEATED SANITY, DISAVOWED, PHOBIA, GHOUL, COFFINS, THE DAY EVERYTHING BECAME NOTHING, GRUESOME STUFF RELISH, ENGORGED, BEHOLD…THE ARCTOPUS, GADGET, and many more.

3 straight days and nights of death metal…I mean I love death, but that’s overkill for me. Actually, Overkill should play that show to change it up a bit. How about a thrashfest? Overkill, Testament, Anthrax, Exodus, Death Angel, Annihilator, Kreator, Sodom, Municipal Waste, SSS, a bunch of underground thrash bands….that would be Show Of The Year.

Every band I see in that post above is a death metal band, or deathrash or blackened death or any of the other subgenres. Hence the name of the festival.
Grind is not a subgenre of death metal. At most there are four death metal bands there.
