I think this is a good move. After all, it was LiveNation (when partnered with Ozzy) who said that Ozzfest should be free. We had to pay $20 or so in parking but that is a lot better than paying $50-$65 not including the parking fee. Hopefully Live Nation will give Tickemaster a run for their money as I am tired of paying a $11 service fee to attend a concert at my local University when I am already paying them money to operate out basketball arena.

Live Nation will probably end up just like Ticketmaster though. Either way, down with Ticketmaster.

I think finally competition in the ticket industry is good. Ticketmaster has free roam over what they charge in “convienence” charges. Steadily it has risen over the years. I can only hope this will be good for the consumer.

In Philly, Ticketmaster is only used to sell tickets to the Tweeter Center in Camden NJ. Everything else is sold through Live Nation or ComcastTix.

With any luck, Ticketmaster will be out of business in a few years.
