Los Angeles has its share of weird bands, so it’s no surprise that FAST EDDIE drummer Greg Atria moved his band out there in search of a more supportive music scene for unique sounding bands. While that proved to be a dead end, it also gave birth to his newest band, the even weirder, and better, RAZZLE BLASTER. On their debut EP, Shopping…With Leeches!, the band (which is rounded out by multi-instrumentalists Jimmy Turner and Tommy Meehan) combines everything from grindcore to electronica, and everything in-between, to create one of more unique and intriguing listening experiences currently being offered in today’s bland music scene. They manage to combine the best elements of bands like THE LOCUST, GENGHIS TRON, THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN, DAUGHTERS, and any number of Mike Patton’s projects, while offering an interesting new twist. The band’s strength is their ability to seamlessly shift between catchy electronic tinged passages and more spastic/abrrasive grind-influenced parts. While the EP is short (only three songs) and probably doesn’t show the full range of what the band is capable of, it showcases a lot of potential for a band that has a bright future. This is definitely a band to keep an eye on.
