It’s been 2 years since the release of CLIENTS, but back again like a raging beast that can’t be stopped, THE RED CHORD come quick on Prey For Eyes this time around with the short opener Film Critiques and Militia Men quickly followed by Dread Prevailed. As TRC has always been chaotic in their songwriting approach, the most noticeable difference this time around is a bit stronger structure, grooves that last a smidgen longer, and more focused guitar solos which are all apparent in the first downloadable track, Send The Death Storm. What we’re going to find with this release is new fans coming in who might have not been able to focus on the sometimes overpowering and numerous parts of the songwriting. It’s not that TRC have changed all that much, it just seems that we have extended some of the basic parts to more than a 2 measure blast into an 8 bar groove. Check out the throwback to Bay Area Thrash in the song, Bone Needle that simply kicks from the opening before morphing into blast beats where vocalist Guy states, “never trust a human.”
What draws my ears so close to this band is that I often hear something new with every listen to their albums as they pack so much into each track, yet it’s not overbearing. Guy’s vocals are more succinct this time around which will also expand their audience. THE RED CHORD once again prove their ability in musicianship and power with Prey For Eyes that will be in many Top 10 lists at the end of the year!

Better than Clients, still not as good as Fused Together. 8.5/10 for me in the realm of The Red Chord, 10/10 if it was any other band.

I agree with the review though I would not give it a perfect 10/10, maybe more along the lines of a 9/10 or 8.75/10. I just don’t like seeing my younger cousin’s friends wearing The Red Chord shirts as they can never comprehend this band.

A much bigger improvement over Clients. I still think Fused Together was their best album, but fans of the band are always suppose to say the bands first album is their best ![]()
