Lyrics written by a freshman high school poet, coupled with the sad story of a junkie that you are ‘supposed’ to pity isn’t the Nikki Sixx we have all come to love. The Heroin Diaries (a soundtrack for Nikki Sixx’s forthcoming book) is a frustrating filler of a release that is so pointless. Why are you releasing this? Stick with your biography of grief and lament, don’t force kids to walk into a record store and purchase this cheap musical gaffe. Admittedly there are some nifty hooks (probably thanks to axe man DJ Ashba) and some solid production and engineering on the album, but Nikki Sixx is a renowned bassist and a trying producer, he’s not a Rick Rubin or a songwriting genius. Littered with monologues and excerpts of read-aloud ‘woe is me’, time would be better spent putting The Heroin Diaries into book on tape, not onto CD. Disney movies need soundtracks, biographies about drug use, hairspray, and the 80’s don’t. Nikki, there’s a fan in all of us for ‘Shout at the Devil’, but spare the world with this tea coaster of a release – it’s not fair.
Side Trivia: Did you know Nikki Sixx’ real name is Frank Carlton Serafino Ferrana?

There is a very good reason for why Nikki Sixx is putting out The Herion Diaries Soundtrack. He is doing all this to let people know what he went threw so others don’t follow in his shoes. Not only that 25% of all royalties from Herion Diaries go to his organization ‘Running Wild in the Night’ to help get kicks off the streets and drugs in L.A. Not only that you can’t expect someone to keep playing the same stuff for 30 years. People change, along with thier taste in music. You can’t tell me your taste in music hasn’t changed withing the past 30 years.

I think this man is trying to take a very negative time in his life and turning it into something positive. The music is new and refreshing, and if one person can be helped by his experience and this album, cudos to all who had anything to do with the project.
