Redemption through Looseness shoots off with the cocking of a gun that goes straight into a driving force of fast drumming and guitar riffs, which sounds like any other typical heavy metal. But as “Ammunition Matters” progresses, its variety grows – the chorus has a quiet, yet powerful, energy that is led by a menacing guitar, a tight rhythm section, and a droning voice. The song then moves back to its heavy, darkly energizing pulse.
“Holy Fire” really shows the musical skill of Kruger; this almost completely instrumental piece is a slow, melodic, well thought out 9-minute composition. The tasteful screaming adds to the musicality of the song by not being over-powering or overdone; unlike some other bands who do not know when to stop, Kruger managed to put just the right amount of everything to make the song an equal balance of goodness. The overcast mood compliments the overall lurid tone of the album and adds to the medley. The greatness of this song quietly speaks for itself in a humbled manner.
Redemption through Looseness proved to be a wonderful CD, each song adding a different element to the mix. The members of Kruger demonstrated their talent as musicians through the complexity of their music, and the diversity of sound between songs. This CD is awesome to listen to while driving fast down the freeway at night, or just chilling anywhere at any time of day. A recommended album to anyone who has a chance to get their hands on it.
