UNEARTH have announced the sudden departure of drummer Mike Justian. It was revealed last night that the former THE RED CHORD skinsman would no longer be a part of the
“Last night marked the end of the line for Mike Justian with Unearth. There are many reasons why we decided it was time to move on without him, but we are not in the business of airing dirty laundry. We will say that we grew apart as individuals and as musicians and the split will be best for both the band and Mike.”
“In true Unearth fashion, we will continue on without skipping a beat. We are pleased and honored to say that Gene Hoglan of Strapping Young Lad is filling in for the rest of our tour with Dimmu Borgir, Devil Driver and Kataklysm. He will take the stage for the first time with us tonight in Vancouver, BC. Gene is an unreal musician and has learned a set in extremely short notice. We can not thank him enough for lending his skills to our band for this tour.”
“Mike is an amazing drummer and will surely turn up in another band soon. We traveled the world with him, shared some of the best experiences of our lives and can call him a brother forever. It was just time for both parties to split, plain and simple. We wish him the best of luck with all of his future endeavors.”

That dude was a really good drummer, but Gene Hoglan with Unearth is fucking killer. Wish I was able to see it!

gene fucking hoglan is one of the greatest drummers alive, why hes doing this i dunno, i hope its cuz they paid him or hes jus bored

agreed. and maybe gene is playing with them because unearth is a strong band. like them or not, they probably are not going anywhere anytime soon. when the metalcore/hardcore scene fades out in the next couple years, unearth will most likely still be releasing records. the same goes for killswitch engage, lamb of god, shadows fall, etc.

saw them live may 8th and they played a 3 song set…it was complete bullshit, “thats all we have for you tonight” wtf is that…buddy at the show with me said the drummer then (Justin) was way off and sloppy as hell, maybe he was a drunk??? thats my guess but when the band prior to you plays over double your set somethings wrong…
