Devils Island – Guitarist Ivan Martynovich Killed in Tragic Accident
Brooklyn, New York thrashers DEVILS ISLAND announced earlier today the tragic passing of their guitarist Ivan Martynovich, 21, who was killed in a car accident on Saturday evening. A message from the band’s official MySpace reads as follows:
“It is hard and unreal to write this. One of Devils Island’s founding members, Ivan Martynovich, died in a car crash saturday night. He was 21. Over these years, Ivan managed to do more crazy shit than most guys will ever think about. He was crazy, but he harbored wisdom, charm, the biggest heart and the biggest pair of balls Ukraine has ever produced. He died doing what he loved – driving fast. A true friend, a deserving son, and one of the few good men. We still cannot comprehend that he had to go.”
Ivan’s wake will be in Metuchen, NJ on wednesday. His funeral will be held the following morning on Thursday.

Can’t say that I knew him too well, but he seemed like a decent guy. One hell of a guitar player, too. I really don’t know what else I could possibly say. I’m absolutely shocked by this.
