Hammerfall – Announce Departure of Bassist Magnus Rosén
Joacim, Stefan, Oscar and Anders of HAMMERFALL have announced the departure of bassist Magnus Rosén. A statement from the band is below:
“Bass player Magnus Rosén has elected to step down from HAMMERFALL to be able to focus on his own projects. While it is surprising, it’s not a total shock to us since he has seemed to be unhappy with the situation in the band and on tour for quite a while. We wish him all the best with his future endeavors and turn our attention to the future, immediate and distant.”
“This will change nothing for us as far as booked gigs and other planned activities are concerned. Rest assured, HAMMERFALL will continue blazing its trail just like before. The process of selecting the right replacement both musically and personally is already set in motion, and we will announce it as soon as a decision is made.”
Rosén commented:
“Thanks to all the fans around the world who supported the band for 10 years. You all gave me very nice memories after all the concerts we did. It was a pleasure to get a big public [following] like you people! Without you, we would not [have been] able to [record] all the CDs and tour [like] we did [these past] 10 years! So thank you all.”
“It´s important for me to tell you that I loved every second I had on the stage when we played our concerts! To hear your happiness really made my day!!!! It was also very nice for me to use my fame to do the solo bass charity [work] for poor people, the clinics in the schools for the kids, and the music against violence. I believe it´s a nice way to give and take.”
“So it´s time for me to be more creative in my music life! So I will, from now [on], give myself a chance to write songs and be creative in [other] bands. This is possible. The year [is] passing by fast and for a musician, it´s important to grow in the situation you are in!”
“I hope HAMMERFALL find a nice and good bass player for you all, and I hope our fans will respect my choice. Anyway, be sure that I will still [be] doing Heavy Metal, so have your eyes open!!!”

I’m Russian big loyal fan of Magnus. And I’m not pity he left HF. Certainly dreaming romantic with generous fine soul Magnus just feels not free in narrow limits of heavy-metal band.
His solos are incredible combination of blue, jazz and funk. Every time it’s something new, elevated-romantic perception of the world through music. Every new Magnus’ creature is unique, lyric, melodic, impressive, emotional thing. In his solos there’s absolutely different Magnus – gentle dreaming romantic.
And his playing speed just fascinates.
Magnus is Genius indeed. Every time he shows virtuoso skill of playing. And every time his inspired melodies touch heart even of inexperience listeners.
