Björk – More Details Emerge On New Album

Billboard.com reports: Björk has set a released date for her new album, “Volta.” According to her Web site, the Atlantic effort will drop May 7 and with feature guest appearances from LFO’s Mark Bell, drummer Chris Corsano (Sonic Youth, Six Organs Of Admittance) and Chinese pipa player Min Xiao-Fen. She also assembled at 10-piece all-female brass section, formed of musicians from her home country Iceland.

As previously reported, the singer/songwriter has tapped Timbaland, Antony Hegarty of ANTONY AND THE JOHNSONS and LIGHTNING BOLT’s Brian Chippendale for the effort as well.

The album is the follow-up to 2004’s “Medulla,” an effort crafted using only the human voice as instruments.

Björk is already scheduled to appear at several music festivals this year, including July 5 at Roskilde in Denmark, June 22 at Glastonbury in the U.K. and Coachella and Sasquatch! in the U.S.
