Slayer – Win ‘Best Metal Performance’ Grammy
SLAYER have won a Grammy for Best Metal Performance for the song “Eyes of the Insane,” beating out LAMB OF GOD, MASTODON, MINISTRY, and STONE SOUR.
This was SLAYER’s second Grammy nomination, the first being in 2002 for the track ‘Disciple‘ (from “God Hates Us All”), also in the Best Metal Performance category.
SLAYER, currently headlining a North American tour, did not attend the Grammy’s presentation, but vocalist/bassist Tom Araya had this to say about the win from his hotel room in Columbus, OH: ” Jeff [Hanneman] and I put a lot into ‘Eyes of the Insane‘ so we’re thrilled that the Grammy voters took the time to listen to it, and then vote for it. We’re out here on the road and we’re all really, really happy.”
In other Grammy news, THE POLICE are expected to announce their reformation, new album, and tour on Monday.
Glad they won, but that song is probably the worst track on Christ Illusion.
I didn’t like the song at first but it grew on me.
“Redneck” and “30/30-150″ are better than anything Slayer could ever hope to release.
Well done, even though this album was not so great, they do not recieve the recognition they deserve.
Ministry should have won this.
The Dixie Chicks won like 47 Grammys. What does that tell us?
It tells us that the shitty Dixie Chicks propaganda film that was released did wonders.
This would be great news if it were 1987. Mastodon or Ministry should have won.
i cant think of one song the dixie chicks wrote… what does that tell us?
SLAYER!!!
“Redneck and 30/30-150 are better than anything Slayer could ever hope to release.”
eyes of the insane is not a great song, but are you kidding me? lamb of god had two decent albums (the two first ones), and stone sour has never released anything worthwhile.
it’s moot anyway, since this award should have gone to mastodon. :)
