Lordi – Eurovision Winners to Storm into the US
On the heels of their Eurovision win, LORDI were featured on the 2006 MTV Europe Music Awards in Copenhagen when lead vocalist “Mr. Lordi” presented the award for rock. LORDI then performed “Hard Rock Hallelujah” live as the award show’s closing act. In the wake of their enormous success, the band has been given their own credit card though Finland’s Sampo Bank, as well as their own soft drink (LORDI Cola), LORDI candy and comic book. Amazingly, this past December, the band’s latest single ”It Snows in Hell” — sold exclusively via Finnish post offices – entered the Finnish chart at No. 2.
In addition to the band appearing on the cover of over 40 Finnish publications in 2006, news features on LORDI’s groundbreaking Eurovision win appeared outside of the country in mega-media outlets such as The New York Times, The Guardian (UK) and SPIN. Now since signing with The End Records, the band has set their sights on North America and anticipates their success will continue across the pond.
On the upcoming North American release of THE AROCKALYPSE, Mr. Lordi states, “I feel great. I’ve been telling journalist over the years that we are a Finnish band that is heavily influenced by American bands. All our musical influence comes from the States and it feels great that the album will finally be coming out over there.” On the topic of trying to achieve the same success LORDI has gained in Europe in North America, Lordi adds, “It is like a 2-sided coin because you don’t know what is going to happen. We have to start from zero over there. It is going to be interesting, and kind of a challenge for us, but then again it is great for us to be humble again. You can never tell which ways things will go, but we’re excited nonetheless.”
The final track listing for “THE AROCKALYPSE (Special Edition)”, which features guest appearances from LORDI fans / heavy metal superstars such as TWISTED SISTER frontman Dee Snider (who acts as the party’s MC, infiltrating the radio broadcast that opens the album (“SCG3 Special Report”), TWISTED SISTER guitarist Jay Jay French, former KISS axeman Bruce Kulick and Accept legend Udo Dirkschneider, is as follows:

LORDI will embark on a string of North American tour dates in support of THE AROCKALYPSE this Spring. The Monster rock n’ roll outfit has been confirmed to perform at both dates of the 2007 Bamboozle Festival, set to take place May 5 and 6 at the Meadowlands Sports Complex in East Rutherford, NJ. Due to the band’s enormous stage set and spectacular pyrotechnics, LORDI will perform on their own custom stage and close both nights of Bamboozle, together with MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE and LINKIN PARK.
