Sublime – ‘Rarities’ Fill Four-Disc Box
Billboard.com reports: Geffen will on Nov. 14 unveil a four-disc SUBLIME boxed set, “Rarities,” which includes a DVD loaded with live performance footage and music videos. The reissue campaign began in August, when Geffen released an expanded edition of SUBLIME’s 1996 self-titled album.
Disc one rounds up live-in-the-studio versions of “Johnny Too Bad Freestyle,” “I’m Not a Loser” and “Lou Makes Friends,” as well as demos of “Roots of Creation,” “Ball and Chain” and “Date Rape Stylee,” an acoustic version of “Get Out!” and a live take on “Shame in Dem Game” featuring BAD BRAINS‘ HR.
Disc two goes heavy on live tracks, several of which were recorded for radio stations such as KUCI-Irvine, Calif., and WBCN-Boston. Demos of “Prophet” and “Miami” are also featured. The third disc unearths a soundcheck jam, a previously unreleased mix of “Doin’ Time” from rapper SNOOP DOGG and a cover of DEE DEE WARWICK’s “Foolish Fool,” which has never previously seen the light of day.
The DVD offers four tracks recorded live at the House of Blues in Hollywood, a host of music videos, a live version of “Saw Red” with NO DOUBT’s Gwen Stefani at the 1995 KROQ Weenie Roast and a take on “Don’t Push” taped at a 1991 backyard party.
