Goatwhore – A Haunting Curse

Goatwhore doesn’t sound as swampy here as on “Funeral Dirge for the Rotting Sun,” but that doesn’t really change the fact of just how good a band this is. Goatwhore’s pummeling black metal is full of shifting riffs, dual vocal attacks and texture-enhancing rhythmic change-ups. Very infectious and hooky and surprisingly accessible for a black metal act, Goatwhore’s “A Haunting Curse” is a slab of metal heat ready to cook you alive with greater intensity than even the fires of hell. Grooves give way to blistering black metal speed and back again as the distinctive vocals lay the listener flat with intensity.
