Vader – Impressions of Blood

Vader proves once again why they’re one of the top-of-the-heapers when it comes to death metal, or, for that matter, metal in general. This is a band that crams a lot of integrity and complexity into music that is often fast, furious and blast beat driven. Guitar lines are sick and relentless but if you listen closely you can hear the dark metallic melody progressions running through the guitar work. The drummer’s blistering speed is fueled not just by how hard and fast the skins can be hit but by texture and pattern as well. The vocals are of the sort I often praise when it comes to death metal – brutal but fairly understandable, especially for this genre. Vader’s music is intelligent and shifting, maintaining an high level of dynamics and keeping the listener on his toes.
