Cataract – Kingdom
Author: Kristofer Upjohn
Cataract is a mighty force of metal. Underlaying their ferocity with a sense of melody, but without compromise to the heavy-hitting crush of their music, Cataract has achieved a strength of metal power. Cataract’s heady thrash sound can crash out some tight grooves and headbanging energy with big riffs and solid percussion and the band is equally capable of generating mid-tempo crunch that’s just as catchy as the fastest shit. The vocals are searing and intense but boast a degree of understandability, something I always appreciate. All told, Cataract captures the very essence of good, modern thrash and belongs on the shelf alongside such acts as Shadows Fall and Soilwork.
