Cannibal Corpse – Kill
Author: Kristofer Upjohn
In some ways, Cannibal Corpse isn’t the easiest band to write a review for. Not because they suck and therefore leave one speechless. And not because they’re the greatest band in the world, thus leaving one awestruck and unable to put in words their glory. Neither is true. It’s just that when you put in a CD like this you pretty much know what to expect. It’s fast, heavy, downtuned, throat-retching, violent and blistering. It’s Cannibal Corpse. It’s brutal, heavy and raw, with sizzling fast guitars, shoulder-twistingly fast percussion and cough drop vocals all the way. Within this mayhem you will actually find kickin’ grooves you could almost stomp your foot to. This all goes in support of misanthropic and gory horror movie lyrics, of course. And the sickest of the sick manifests in the form of grindcore guitar solos. Naturally, while this is mayhem, it’s mayhem executed with talent and vigor. This is gore metal, pure and simple. But what must be said here, what’s important, is that Cannibal Corpse is one of the best.
