Angel Blake

Author: Kristofer Upjohn

Angel Blake’s sound is a fusion of the familiar and the innovative, the heavy and the melodic, the old school and the new. There’s plenty of heavy thrash riffage in here, chunky with thick production; there are strong metal grooves and some groovin’ guitar melodies. There are vocals that point slightly toward the world of power metal. These are all familiar elements, but they are combined into a sound that is moderately distinctive and has a touch of innovation, by which I mean it doesn’t sound just like everything else. The thick heavy metal sound provides plenty of headbanging energy it’s shot through with melodic considerations and plenty of nice texture. Additioally, while the band has classic metal elements suring all throgh it, it also has hints of modern rock and nu metal, in a positive way, again adding to the feeling that this band offers old things in a respectably new way. While Angel Blake isn’t trailblazing, the do at least manage to be original.
