Roadrunner Records – Set Milestones – Surpass Million Download Mark for Single Artist

Roadrunner Records is proud to announce a major achievement in independent label digital sales – surpassing the million-download mark for a single artist on a single track. In addition to this achievement in digital media, the label garnered its first Grammy Award on the heels of its celebrated 25th anniversary year.

In the history of digital downloads, only 6 artists have passed the million-download mark, according to Neilsen Soundscan’s Release To Date Digital Tracks Chart. Major labels Interscope, Reprise, RCA, A&M and Geffen are represented in the Top 5. The 6th entry is the first Independent label artist to reach that milestone – Roadrunner Records’ NICKELBACK. NICKELBACK’s track “Photograph” climbed to the top in 28 weeks, making it the 2nd fastest climb in digital history. The album “All the Right Reasons” has already been certified double-platinum as NICKELBACK’s new single “Savin Me” is exploding on to radio stations throughout the country. “Photograph” has also sold over 200,000 mastertones since release.

The 48th Annual Grammy Awards, held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on February 8th 2006 saw Roadrunner’s first Grammy winners, SLIPKNOT, take home the award for BEST METAL PERFORMANCE for their track “Before I Forget.” The band has received many nominations for their work over the years, but this well-deserved, much -anticipated win comes at the end of the touring cycle for their critically-acclaimed Platinum album, “VOL. 3 (The Subliminal Verses)”. The album, produced by Rick Rubin, was a triumphant return to form for the band. It asserted SLIPKNOT’s dominance in rock circles, yielding 3 Top Ten Active Rock tracks and 1 Top Five Modern Rock track.

and this is news worthy? roflmao…this almost as pathetic as the grammy's themselves.

  2. cma3585 says:

what's even more pathetic is the fact that you took time out of your life to sit here and post on such a pathetic story.

  3. Deathchain says:

What's even MORE pathetic is that you just did the exact same thing. But yeah, this is pretty shitty, Roadrunner used to be a great label, then they abandoned all of their bands. They're kind of flavor of the month type label, whatever's popular is on their roster.

    GAY. Enough said.

Vol. 3 should have just been named Sell Out…it would have saved me 15 bucks…

i'm sure there are worse bands out there, but i hate nickelback more than any of them. they took that place after creed broke up.

  8. Rape This Day says:

Nickelback, good or bad, all that matters is they're the cash cow for Roadrunner.

  9. TheHammer says:

Nickelback is just another mediocre band like Disturbed, Korn, Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park, Slipknot among others who have been heavily financed by the parasites of corporate America. Collectively, these bands are not creative or innovative and merely copied their mentors style much to the glee of money grubbing label executives who have deep pockets and get them mucho radio and TV exposure.

  10. cma3585 says:

actually, you can't name a band that any of those bands copied. take them for what they were when they broke into the music business and each were original. sure, rap-rock collaborations occured before limp (who sound nothing like ratm, so don't try to compare) and linkin park, doesn't mean that what they did didn't have its own unique sound, which it most certainly did. all b/c they had record label backing doesn't mean they instantly suck.

all b/c they had record label backing doesn't mean they instantly suck.

Correct. But the argument was about those bands. And those bands surely instantly sucked.

10 years from now who will remember the bands I mentioned. What originality have they brought to the table? I'll tell you, zero, zilch and nada! They invented nothing! True underground bands stay loyal to their fans and stay in the underground and don't sell-out. Let's not confuse making money and paying bills with selling-out. The bands I mentioned don't give a rats ass about their fans and have taken the money and laugh all the way to the bank.

  13. cma3585 says:

no, they're just smart and knew how to capitalize on the opportunity they were given, regardless of whether they suck or not.

    True underground bands? lol.

lol? Plz expand, you seem to be English challenged!!!!!!!!!!
!!!!! What's your definition of a "True underground band"?

The forgettable sell-out bands I mentioned do indeed suck and I just ripped my finest beer fart directed to them all. We do agree on one thing and that is Dog Fashion DIsco is original. I've preordered 25 copies of Adultery. Peace.

  17. Anus says:

    Basically, Roadrunner likes men.

  18. metalkillsall says:

My definition of "true underground bands"? They are an illusion created by a bunch of needy fan boys who like to think they are more musically in tune than the rest of the world. For some idiotic reason these fan boys think it's noble to be underground. The statement of "true underground band" is just absurd, and you sound like a dork when saying it. You sound like an 80's thrash fan, every other word out of your keyboard is "sell-out", grow up. Music is music. Period. Underground only implies a lack of mainstream popularity, it does not imply that the band is good. For every shitty mainstream band, there's 20 shitty underground bands that sound like everyone else. Underground metal is a scene, which is funny, because most underground metalheads do nothing but bash on other scenesters, oh the irony. English challenged?

    God I fucking hate Nickelback.
