To start things off…when you’re fucking a chick, do you pull out or wear a rubber?

Umm…I haven’t fucked a chick since Limp Bizkit wasn’t popular yet, and I was so drunk I don’t remember. So I can’t really answer that question and tell you the truth, because I don’t really know.

That was just to see the mood of the interview, but now on to a serious question…how has the tour been going so far, besides all your van trouble?

Besides the van trouble, the show’s have been really good. We’ve had people coming to each show in each town to see us, so that’s always good.

How do you stay occupied on the road?

Well, we’re between managers so I have to do that a lot, so I don’t really have any free time. I’m not a free time having kind of guy anyway, I’m kind of a workaholic. Everyone else plays video games.

How does the scene in Tennessee compare to LA, and why did you feel the need to move there?

Nashville specifically is different than the rest of Tennessee. The scene itself is more…it’s a lot of musician’s kids, and they’re all trying to be different than anyone else. Like it’s an insult that you sound like someone else. So the bands are all really good, but the people are very jaded and don’t go to shows, so it’s really hard to get a following. We did get a following, but then the real music industry thinks that Nashville already taken care of because they have labels there, but they don’t sign anything non-country. So we moved to LA and it’s really cooperative and the people are into going to shows.

So how did you end up hooking up with Combat Records?

We had a lot of labels calling us at first, but they were the only one interested in letting us do exactly what we wanted. Even though they didn’t have as much money as some of the other ones did, it was the only way we could go with it.

Are you happy with how the album turned out?

Yeah, the record is exactly what we wanted to do. We didn’t have to do anything we didn’t want to do, which is unusual.

So what do you think of the scene right now, and have you ever wanted to punch anyone for “dancing” to your music?

haha, I don’t really want to punch anyone for doing anything positive to my music…or even anything negative either…

As long as they’re reacting, you’re happy?

I don’t even care if they react, as long as they’re there. I don’t really know…the scene right now, all the bands are afraid to do their own thing, but something’s gotta give on that end. What we’re doing, I think is kind of unrelated to it, we’re just kind of coexisting with it.

So what bands are you currently listening to?

Umm…Shudder To Think…and there’s a band called Gaza from Salt Lake City that’s pretty good. I haven’t been able to listen to music because of all the touring and the chaos.

Metallica or Iron Maiden, whose better?

I don’t know, I don’t like either one.

You don’t like Metallica or Maiden?!

haha, uhh…I like Voivod and stuff more than Iron Maiden. And for my early thrash needs…maybe one or two Metallica albums is maybe cool.

So why do you think you divide people so much to where they either love your music or they hate you?

Because we do what we want to do, not what everyone else wants us to do. People aren’t accustom to getting that right now, so they get confused.
Have you ever gotten your ass kicked on stage?

Yeah, well, I got punched. I didn’t get my ass kicked because he was small, but I got punched six or seven times in Philly opening for Emery. That’s a Christian show, so I don’t know how that happened. I played a Christian show and got psychically attacked! I didn’t do anything for a minute, then I told a homoerotic joke to fix it. I was like, we’re gonna have a group hug and asking the guy why he didn’t want to hug everyone else, since we’re all having so much fun touching each other, just trying to get homoerotic on him. After the show, our drummer jumped down and beat the shit out of him in front of everyone. Shit got complicated, haha.

So to continue on that homoerotic theme, have you ever fucked a guy or girl you met off of MySpace in the ass?

I haven’t been able to fuck anyone in the ass since I was 17! I haven’t fucked anyone since MySpace didn’t exist. I did fuck a girl in the ass before I ever kissed one though, when I was young. I didn’t mean to do that, she kind of screwed me into it.

Have you seen Brokeback Mountain yet?

No, no. I’ve been meaning to get to that.
So have you started work on your next album yet?

No, we may start that in September or maybe later, since we’re still trying to get people to listen to this one.

What do you think about people illegally downloading your music?

Do it.

As long as they come to shows…

Yeah, I don’t even care. Generally speaking, the record industry is in the process of falling apart and the people who embrace that kind of stuff are the ones…

Yeah, so fuck, I don’t care. Everything’s crumbling around us, so do what you gotta do.

Do you have any plans to re-record anything else from My First Time like you did with Cupid Full of Eros?

Uhh…not really.

What are your upcoming tour plans?

We’re going to do the Ion Dissonance/Animosity thing, then Dog Fashion Disco/Tub Ring. After that, I don’t know. I’m scheming a few things.
