Slipknot – Turn Down Headlining Spot For Ozzfest 2006

In a new MTV.com article, SLIPKNOT frontman Corey Taylor announced that the band turned down the chance to headline this year’s addition of Ozzfest, and instead he’ll be focusing on his other band, STONE SOUR. Here’s what he had to say:
“We were out on the road for two years, and we did the entire 2004 Ozzfest. It [was] time for some of us to take a break. They offered us a lot of money, but it wasn’t about that. If you burn up the audience, they’re not going to come back. How much more can you do, on an album that came out two years ago? I’m much more interested in doing STONE SOUR these days.
“Now, if they asked me to do STONE SOUR on Ozzfest, that’s a different story.”

If slipknot was the there first tought to put as the headliner for Ozzfest, also Atreyu & Avenge Sevenfold which are still pending then this is with a doubt going to be the the worst Ozzfest ever.

I'm so glad I didn't buy a ticket for the Salt Lake Slipknot show. lol, Only band there worth see was Shadows Fall, and I've already seen them enough, so fuck that.
Well Shadows Fall and Lamb of God played at the Lo Fi that night instead. It was fucking brutal. Yeah I really hope that Avenged Shitfold wont even play in the same state as Ozzfest. I would really like to see The Red Chord tearing up the second stage this year. I won't go into complete detail on my ideal Ozzfest but I def. think they should be on it.
Ozzfest must be hurting for headliners if they offered for Slipknot to play this year. They played the show last year in California and headlined the 2nd stage the year before. If Slipknot was asked I guess my predictions for Tool, System of a Down or AC/DC headlining go down the shitter.
Please don't tell me Stone Sour will be on Ozzfest…

Stone Sour is, at least, better than Slipknot. Remember that Sounds of the Underground tour? Ya, they need to bring that back this year, but have underground bands instead and no shitty core.

If Im not mistaken, Lamb of God, Devil Driver, and SYL all had pretty damn good crowd response. All I saw the hardcore kids doing was sitting in the stands until the 2 or 3 bands they wanted to see came on. Then all they did was fucking stand there while about 9 fat kids tryed to kick and flip around, slipping in the mud and falling on there asses.
SlipKnot is still a great live band, but I'm glad they turned down the headlining spot at ozzfest. Their show only works up close like when they headlined second stage.

Yes I happen to own Waking the Fallen…Why do you think I hate them so much now. Why such a change? Money? Girls? Fame? Gayness? What's up with them? I bought City of Evil and threw it out the window about 30 seconds into the first song.
Avenged Sevenfold's lead singer Matt Shadows, has vocal problems so the doctor suggested him to change his style of music, so he went vocal lessons and changed altogether… Alot of bands nowadays are fucking up their vocals… A7X changed, but Matt struggled to change, but the fame, girls are part of the music business.. Their solos are awesome, I think their album is COE is stellar, but thats cool that you dont like it dude..
Yeah and it's not a problem that you listen to them either but all I'm sayin is if a doctor told me to change I'd either tell him to fuck off or I would quit.

i wnat to see system of a down on ozzfest. ive benn to 5 ozzfests and they were one of the best acts. I will be ripshit if zakk wylde headlines. best bands from ozzfest 2000-2005: Pantera soad slayer slipknot(on the second stage where they belong) hatebreed lamb fo god killswitch engage marylin manson and korn(they were fuckin awsome in 2003 but i owuldnt like to see them now lol)
