Yakuza – Sign To Prosthetic Records

Prosthetic Records is proud to announce the addition of Chicago-based YAKUZA to the roster’s ranks. The experimental jazz/metal quartet will be releasing their Prosthetic debut “Samsara” in March 2006.

“Samsara” was financed by the band itself, then shopped around to various labels in search of a partnership with a company that fully understood YAKUZA’s foresight. “Our love for music is the primary motivator behind the band while our desire to kind of push the envelope a bit is right behind it,” comments singer/sax player Bruce Lamont. “We’re really happy that Prosthetic shares this same vision and is 100% supportive of it.”

“Samsara” was recorded by Matt Bayles (ISIS, BOTCH) at Volume Studios in Chicago and hosts a wide variety of musical guests including pianist Jim Baker, cellist Fred Lonberg-Holm, Sanford Parker and Troy Sanders (MASTODON). “Samsara” is full of peaks and valleys, overly aggressive in some spots, mind-trippingly mellow in others. The contrasting soundscapes come together impeccably, creating one of the most all-inclusive albums since PINK FLOYD’s classic “The Wall”.

“We are not trying to be anything except creatively honest with ourselves,” comments singer/sax player Bruce Lamont. “We are not trying to be a jazz metal hybrid band or whatever the fuck we got dubbed in the past. We really just do what comes naturally.”
