Lost Soul – Chaostream
Author: Erin Fox
Lost Soul delivers some frantic, technically savage death metal
with surgical precision on their newest platter, ‘Chaostream’. There
are a lot of great death metal bands coming out of Poland’s scene
these days and Lost Soul rank with the best of them.
The band draws upon 90’s death metal influences, then add their
own creativity to the music and its arrangements, making for a listen
that demands your attention throughout the albums ripping nine tracks. ‘Godstate’ features some unbelievably fast guitar riffs that completely slay! The musicianship of the band is top notch and the
most impressive aspect of the band musically is the guitar rhythms
and the manner in which they are expertly arranged, combined with
the rapid fire timekeeping of Adam Sierzeca.
At times the overall sound is reminiscent of Morbid Angel, however
this is merely a reference point, as Lost Soul are certainly not at a
loss for the ability to create skull crushing music that is inspired as
well as proficient. ‘The Hidden Law’ finds vocalist/guitarist Jacek Caecki issuing some roaring guttural rumblings, while ‘Mortal Cage’
showcases the masterful guitar playing of Caecki and Pitor Ostrowski.
‘Chaostream’ is absolutely recommended for any fan of blasting technical death metal.
