Dry Kill Logic – The Dead and Dreaming

Author: Aidan Gray

Dry Kill Logic return to the scene with a definitive brand of metal, neatly packaged into 11 songs of Reposession Records goodness. Since their 2001 RoadRunner Records release “Darker Side of Nonsense”, Dry Kill Logic rode the “nu-metal” era out to its very end, and seemingly disappeared for the better part of 2003 onwards. Now, almost 2005, Dry Kill Logic is coming back with a heavier, refined, down tuned sound that fuses all of today’s hardcore’s elite, with some riff-ripping, ass-pounding metal. Long gone are the songs of ‘Nightmare’, and ‘Rot’; enter ‘Paper Tiger’ – an anthemic headtrip – and ‘Living Witness’, all which are a part of their latest effort “The Dead and Dreaming”.

The popular music that Dry Kill Logic was an integral part of back in 2001 is no more, now with an underground scene that is so often defined by girls pants, and lip rings, this CD, a hearty salute to the circle pit, is a welcome addition to the many releases of 2004. The screams, the down tuned guitars, and the pummeling rhythm section embodies this October 5th US release. Those of you looking to raise your eyebrows in surprise, give the new DKL a whirl.
