Misery Signals – Of Malice and The Magnum Heart

Author: Alex Schrock

Have you ever heard a CD, where you could hear that there was so much put into it, emotionally, mentally, and time-wise, that it left you speechless? Weather you haven’t, or you want that feeling again, Misery Signals’ first full-length is the best place to start.

This is no trendy bullshit metalcore CD, it is a musical force that has raised the bar on songwriting and feel. With genuinely creative breakdowns, remarkabley fluent yet powerful drumming, breathtaking melodic passages, thoughtful guitar melodies, flawless song structures and build-ups, and passionate vocals, this album leaves no room for second guessing and comparisons.

Jesse Zoraaka gives the most sincere and memorable vocal performance (dare I say, ever?) on “The Year Summer Ended In June”, a song to his best friends and former bandmates of Compromise who were killed in a van accident. This song goes through motions of aboslutely furious to clean and thoughtful, fortifying Jesse’s screams of anger and depression, to leave you without a word for the four minute and twenty six second display of this man’s greatest lose.

While the other song lyrics on this CD aren’t as intense, they are all incredibly well written.

So you can either listen to a bunch of chugga chugga tough guy bullshit, that has no credibility, musically or lyrically, and no reason for anger or hate….or you can listen to this.

10/10
